2011 mazda mazda3 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Premium handling and amenities in a compact package. introductionthe mazda 3 is a premium car in a compact package. The back seat will fit two adults fairly comfortably, provided the front occupants aren't too tall. In both the sedan and hatchback, the rear seats fold 60/40 to create a mostly flat load floor. Higher line models get a multi-information display below the windshield that houses readouts for the vehicle information center, climate system, radio presets, and even the available navigation system. A unique cluster of buttons on the steering wheel controls these functions. The readouts are easy to see and the steering wheel controls work intuitively. The other controls are mounted high on the dash's center stack, and are also easy to see and use.  on the road, the mazda 3 feels firm and composed, with moderate lean in turns. The steering is sharp and precise, and the brakes provide a linear pedal feel. The suspension deals well with most bumps, though large ruts can pound through with the available 17-inch wheels.  two engines are offered. We found it provides adequate power for most needs. It is offered only with a manual transmission. The technology package 1,835) comes with navigation, a full-color version of the multi-information display, sirius satellite radio with a six-month subscription, keyless access and starting, rain-sensing wipers, auto on/off headlights, bi-xenon headlights with auto-leveling, adaptive front lighting system, led rear combination lights, and perimeter alarm.  safety features standard on all mazda3 models include dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain side airbags, active front head restraints, tire-pressure monitor, and anti-lock brakes with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution. Mazda says the grille design helps the mazda3 slip through the air better while taking in sufficient air to cool the engine. Mazda says the bold grille is purposely polarizing to separate the mazda3 from impassive competitors.  the grille is flanked by a pair of angled headlights that wrap around to the sides. Bi-xenon headlights are available with the adaptive front-lighting system, meaning they point into turns as the steering wheel is turned. It's a useful safety feature on dark country roads, helping the driver negotiate narrow roads and helping the driver spot pedestrians. Fog lights are found in prominent flared pods that fill out the front end and also help improve aerodynamics.  the headlights come to a point around the side of the car, where they meet up with prominent front wheel flares that surround 16 or 17-inch wheels. The base car gets steel wheels, while highline models have attractive alloy wheels. The fender flares direct the eye to a rising beltline that starts at the front of the door, bisects the door handles, and leads all the way to the taillights. This line has a stronger wedge shape on the hatchback. On both body styles, another character line is found just above the rocker panel, and it rises as it moves toward the rear wheel. Like the outgoing model, the hatchback features triangular rear side windows and a rear roof spoiler.  at the rear, the sedan has a rear lip spoiler. The hatchback features a five-pointed rear window that reflects the shape of the grille. The taillights wrap around the side of the car on both body styles. Led rear combination taillights are available. This structure was further developed beginning with 2010 models to make it lighter and stiffer. This was accomplished by using more high-tensile strength steel and thicker steel in key locations, adding gussets to areas such as the suspension mounting points, and employing a technique called weld-bonding to strengthen areas such as the door apertures. Weld bonding, which combines spot welding with the use of structural adhesive, enhances the unibody's flex resistance. The result is an even better handling car beginning with the 2010 models. interiormuch of the mazda 3 appeal is the interior, which is first-class for a vehicle of this size and price. Mazda completely redesigned the cockpit for 2010, taking an approach based on human-machine interface studies that places controls and readouts in two key zones.  controls most frequently used, including the radio and climate dials and buttons, are placed high on the center stack, where they can be most easily accessed. Readouts for the vehicle information center, climate system, radio presets, and even the available navigation system are found in a multi-information display that is located just under the windshield. Mazda says it chose this location because it is very close to the driver's line of sight, making it easier and safer to check those readouts. Note that only s models have the multi-information display.  the readouts in this display are controlled by a small grouping of six buttons on the right side of the steering wheel. It's a unique approach, but it works well. When the navigation system is ordered, the screen is quite small, making it harder to read than most others, which are usually mounted on the center stack.  the look and feel of the dash would be appropriate in an entry-level luxury car. The goodies include a thumping bose centerpoint surround sound system with 10 speakers, leather upholstery, driver's seat memory, heated front seats, automatic climate control, push-button starting, and bluetooth cell phone connectivity. That's premium equipment at compact car prices.  small items storage is plentiful, with a nicely sized center console bin, an average-size glovebox, and two cupholders behind the shifter.  the front seat has plenty of head and leg room, and the s model's sport seats provide good support in turns. The rear seat has enough space for adults provid.

1999 buick park avenue review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It's a pleasant step up into quiet, roomy luxury, bolstered by high quality and a much more authoritative set of dynamic capabilities. walkaroundtwo models are available: $31,800 park avenue and $36,695 park avenue ultra. (prices include $670 destination charge.)  we prefer the livelier performance of the park avenue ultra. The park avenue comes well equipped and stacks up as an exceptional buy among large cars.  this latest generation of park avenues looked like an evolutionary update when it was introduced for 1997, but it was completely re-engineered. The park avenue shares its basic platform with the oldsmobile aurora. Compared with the previous generation park avenue, the new one rides on a longer wheelbase and a wider track. At 58. 1 inches, this park avenue is three inches taller than the old one and it weighs about 250 pounds more. Big doors make getting in and out easy and there's lots of front and rear headroom and legroom. Available in 205-horsepower normally aspirated (park avenue) and 240-horsepower supercharged (ultra) versions, the 3800 delivers lots of low rpm getaway power, instant throttle response, and plenty of punch for passing.  power is transferred to the front wheels through one of gm's butter-smooth electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmissions--they're among the best in the business.  buick has improved the appearance of the tail lamps on the base park avenue for 1999, so that it looks more like the ultra from behind. The sound system is upgraded from last year and new colors and interior trim freshen its appearance. interioras we noted, roominess and ease of entry were top design priorities and the park avenue is a bullseye on both counts. Interior space is just this side of vast, a word that also applies to the trunk. And getting in and out is devoid of the simultaneous duck-and-bend movement required in some swoopier designs, even though the door sill is a trifle higher.  like the exterior, the interior styling rates as more contemporary than the previous park avenue. Over resistance from longtime buick owners, interior design chief paul tatseos managed to break out of the old horizontal dashboard theme that afflicted the '96 park avenue by installing a modestly curved cowl over the main instruments. Besides offering a more modern appearance, this allowed a bigger speedometer and tachometer, which makes them easier to scan.  another welcome change is the general appearance of the dashboard, which shows a strong riviera influence with its sharp color contrasts between secondary controls (sound and climate control systems, for example) and the interior color schemes. A display allows the driver to calculate fuel economy, miles to empty and monitor tire pressure, oil level, coolant level; two trip odometers can be useful on long trips. An electronic display can display cellular telephone status.  anti-lock brakes come standard. Next generation (reduced force) dual front airbags are also standard. And that's a big plus. A stiff chassis helps the suspension engineers create ride and handling traits appropriate to a particular car's target market. It also makes it easier to keep noise out of the car, and pays long-term durability benefits.  given this trait, it was interesting to see the handling distinctions between the basic park avenue and the flagship ultra. The steering system, which is different from the basic park avenue, varies the amount of power assist as vehicle speed and/or steering wheel angle increases, providing a significantly better sense of where the front wheels are pointed.  more important, the stiffer suspension package--which also reduces ride height slightly--yielded much sharper responses in quick maneuvers. It's not quite as firm as the riviera, but it's far from flabby and the tradeoff in ride quality from the standard park avenue is minuscule.  all in all, the ultra's enhanced control and firmer ride lends a contemporary feel that's a pleasant step forward for buick.  quiet operation has always been a top priority for buick sedans, and here too the park avenues represent a step forward. Wind noise has been reduced to a mere whisper, and the new unitbody does a superior job of keeping road noise out of the cabin. The supercharged engine is audible at full throttle, but we think it's worth a little extra noise to have its superior thrust.  add roomy seats with real move-around comfort, and the going becomes positively serene, particularly in freeway cruising. The park avenue isn't quite as quiet as the lexus ls 400, but the distinctions are academic in most operating situations--unlike the distinction in price. summarybuick has characterized itself as a purveyor of 'premium american motorcars,' and the park avenue is an excellent ambassador for this theme. 2005 bmw m3 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The bmw m3 is a high-performance tuned version of the 3-series coupe. The m3 seats five passengers and comes in either a coupe or convertible. It features many of the same amenities as other 3-series models, but it has distinct sporty styling cues that set it apart thanks to its racing heritage. It is powered by a 33 hp 3. 2-liter inline-six cylinder engine that is mated to a getrag type d six-speed manual transmission. An optional sequential shifter can also be incorporated. Safety features include side-impact airbags, all-disc antilock brakes, a rollover protection system for the convertible, daytime running lights, and a front head protection system for coupes. For 2005, the bmw m3 gets a competition package option. Anti-lock Brakes

2004 chevrolet colorado review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new pickup gets a high five. introductioncolorado is chevrolet's new moniker for its midsize pickup, replacing the s10. It's more, however, than just substituting an outdoorsy name for a nondescript alpha-numeric designation. The colorado is new from the tire print up, so to christen it anew is apropos.  the new chevrolet colorado is slightly larger than the s10 it replaces. It gains in passenger space and loses a minor amount of cargo space. It comes with a completely new five-cylinder engine option instead of a v6 and its towing rating decreases. The new colorado is designed to offer favor comfort over towing and hauling capability that is seldom tested by most mid-size truck owners. The chevy colorado is designed for the owner who wants the utility of a pickup at hand, but doesn't regularly tow or haul heavy loads. Roominess and comfort are more important to the colorado driver. lineupchevrolet defines models in the colorado line by drivetrain and cab configuration. Ground clearance at the rear differential is 8. 4 inches.  the colorado is also available with the zq8 sport suspension. Riding about two inches lower than the standard suspension, these sport trucks also have a monochromatic paint scheme, fog lamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It's available only with two-wheel drive and comes standard with 17-inch wheels. It carries a base price of $17,545.  major colorado options include power windows, locks and mirrors 500); traction control for 2wd models 295); locking rear differential 270); side curtain airbags 195); leather-trimmed heated power-adjustable bucket seats 1,495).  the chevrolet colorado is mechanically identical to the gmc canyon. Trim and packaging of features differ, however, and some equipment, such as chevy's zq8 sport suspension, is not available on the gmc. walkaroundthe chevy colorado follows the lead of the silverado in styling with its bold chrome crossbar grille and multi-lens headlamps (high and low beams, daytime running lamps and turn signals). On models so equipped, fog lamps are inset into the bumper. Otherwise the colorado has a clean, modern look, the crew cab looking well balanced despite the extra cab length. Reach-through door handles allow a full handful of grip for easy opening even with gloves.  cargo boxes are 6-foot, 1-inch on regular and extended cab models and 5-foot, 1-inch on the crew cab. A two-position locking tailgate, fully closed or 55-degrees open, as well as lowered to horizontal, provides more cargo utility. When partway down, the colorado can carry a 4-by-8 foot sheet of plywood flat.  chevrolet dealers have a range of accessories, including a bed extender, hard and soft tonneau covers, tubular assist steps and splash guards, that can be installed at the time of delivery, naturally at extra cost. Gmaccessories. Com. interiorthe interior of the chevrolet colorado ls is swathed in hard plastic that's not very finger friendly but should prove to be durable, important in a pickup truck. Inside door releases feel solid and sturdy, though have the same hard feel. The center console has cup holders as well and these look capable of handling a variety of drink containers. The center arm rest opens for a small storage space, big enough for a large wallet, and it wobbles when pushed. A small tray on the console will be useful for all sorts of oddments that don't need to be covered.  the instrument panel is traditional white on black with orange needles. It's very legible and doesn't hide its functionality with artsy markings. Practical control design continues to the center stack. No ground-breaking innovation here, just straightforward knobs and dials that don't require a post graduate degree to operate.  the front buckets are wide and soft and most derrieres should find them comfy on long trips. They offer little lateral support, but that would be important only to those who try to drive their colorado like a sports car.  the crew cab's rear seat has surprising leg room and a comfortable back angle, not the near vertical back rest found even in some full-size pickup cabs. The chair-height rear seat gives lots of legroom. Called the vortec 2800, it makes a muscular 185 lb-ft of torque at 2800 rpm. That should be enough for most mid-size pickup truck duties, though it's not offered on crew cab models.  the new five-cylinder configuration, most recently seen in audis and volvos, produces a distinctive, siren-like sound at full throttle, something found in the colorado as well. At cruise, the engine is quiet and there's no indication that it's anything out of the ordinary. The vortec 3500 sustains that torque level over 90 percent of its rev range, good when hauling of heavy loads or towing trailers. Recommended fuel is 87 octane regular, making the colorado cheaper to keep.  max towing for the colorado with the five-cylinder engine and automatic transmission is 4000 pounds, 2000 less than the old s10. Chevrolet was willing to trade capability that few used in a midsized truck for a more comfortable ride, important for those who frequently use their trucks for general passenger hauling.  driving a rear-drive colorado with the vortec 3500 proves that chevy made the right decisions. On loose gravel, whether on a dirt road or just off the pavement, if given too much power, the traction control system reduces power completely and the colorado falls on its face. That's not important except when trying to merge into fast-moving traffic from a pebbly roadside. The traction control override button, located high on the dash, can be used in such a situation. In snow, however, the traction control should help in taming a pickup's lightly loaded rear end.  by sacrificing some towing capacity, gm engineers were able to reduce the rear spring weight and otherwise tune the suspension for a smooth ride, and that's really evident in the colorado. On a washboard dirt road the rear end isn't bouncing around like a polynesian hula dancer's grass skirt. It's the front end that feels firmer. It still rides like a truck, but it isn't nasty about it.  the front disc/rear drum brakes are big and meaty and certainly should be enough for any load the colorado is allowed to carry. Suspension was firm enough to handle hard stops on pavement without drama. The abs does its job neatly, keeping the truck in line even when slamming on the brakes on a gravelly road. summarythe colorado is a new generation of mid-size pickup trucks, a market that has largely been ignored while the larger pickups get all the attention. But for anyone looking for a smaller truck that's not cramped on the inside and is still capable of handling a respectable load or pulling a personal watercraft, the colorado is ideal. Load three dirt bikes on a trailer, the assorted gear in the bed and three bikers and a couple hangers-on can head to the track. Or take the kids to soccer practice and bring home a dozen bags of mulch. The colorado handles it all with aplomb. model lineupchevrolet colorado regular cab 2wd 16,200); extended cab 2wd 18,545); crew cab ls 2wd 20,670); regular cab 4wd 18,760); extended cab 4wd 21,105); crew cab ls 4wd 23,230). assembled inshreveport, la. options as testedautomatic transmission 1,095); power locks, windows and mirrors 500); leather heated seats 1,495); side-curtain airbags 1,000); xm satellite radio 325). model testedchevrolet colorado crew cab ls 4x2 21,011). 2003 jeep wrangler review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New rubicon is factory-prepared for america's gnarliest trails. introductionjeep wrangler is a classic symbol of summer cruising and off-road rambling. The wrangler is the icon of the jeep brand, and there are no direct competitors for it. As jeep says, there's only one.  headlining the 2003 jeep wrangler lineup is the rubicon, which boasts a serious off-road suspension, a powerful 4. 0-liter six-cylinder engine, a dana rear end, and other changes, all designed to improve 4x4 capabilities. Redesigned front and rear seats offer more room and are easier to work with. Redesigned exterior mirrors help reduce noise, vibration and harshness and are wider, offering a better view rearward.  built along jeep's 'go anywhere, do anything' design philosophy, the new rubicon is a 4x4 gem. After driving through hell's revenge, cliff hanger, and other challenging trails around moab, i am happy to report that the rubicon passes the off-road test with flying colors. The new engine delivers 25 percent more horsepower and 18 percent more torque than the previous engine (150 hp @ 5200 rpm and 165 pounds-feet @ 4000 rpm). It works well with the standard five-speed gearbox, which is a new heavy-duty transmission with synchronized reverse gearing and improved shift quality in cold weather. Still, the se does not offer thrilling acceleration performance. At first glance, the se looks attractive, but its low price quickly rises when upgraded upholstery, a rear seat, rear carpeting, a stereo and other options are added. A variety of options is available, including the hard top.  wrangler x, sport, sahara, and rubicon models come with a much more powerful 4. 0-liter six-cylinder engine rated at 190 horsepower and 235 pounds-feet of torque. The inline-6 gives up some fuel economy to the inline-4 around town, but the six-cylinder gets 19 mpg on the highway.  wrangler x comes with cloth upholstery, upgraded front seats, a fold-down rear seat. The rubicon is designed to reflect the original vision realized in 1940, when jeep invented the sport-utility and dominated off-road travel. Jeep even recreated sections of the famed rubicon trail at its proving grounds in michigan to test the durability and capabilities of its newest offering. Rubicon comes equipped with diamond plate sill guards, front and rear dana axles and driver-actuated locking differentials. Standard are 31-inch tall tires and 16-inch five-spoke wheels. It's available in all of the wrangler exterior colors.  all models in the lineup include a fold-down windshield, removable doors and top, and a weatherproof interior. Drivers may choose between hard- and soft-top models. That hasn't changed. All boast distinctive round headlamps. Uplevel models come with front fog lamps and bumpers and wheel wells in a contrasting color.  a few additions to the exterior distinguish the rubicon from others in the lineup. A 22-inch long nameplate is prominently emblazoned on either side of the hood. Heavy-gauge diamond plate sill guards are bolted to the body sides to protect rocker panels from the damage and dings of rocks and stumps in the backcountry. Goodyear wrangler 31-inch tires are mounted on new 16-inch, five-spoke aluminum wheels with a dished face to protect them from debris and obstacles. Ten inches of ground clearance helps the rubicon traverse the trail.  one of the biggest decisions when buying a wrangler is selecting the top. Purists prefer the soft top, a high-quality piece of equipment that can be configured according to the weather. Folding the top down takes only a third of the time it took before a redesigned top was introduced for 2001. It comes with full-height doors and roll-up windows. Rearward visibility is aided by the rear-window defroster, wiper and washer. Wind noise is greatly reduced. Either top is far easier to remove or install than those of pre-2001 models and provides much better sealing from the elements.  the new exterior mirrors are made of plastic, which jeep engineers say holds up better than metal when going off road.  . interiorinside, the jeep wrangler's space is spartan but highly functional. New seat designs and fabrics make it more comfortable. All models come with a weatherproofed interior that features removable drain plugs for hosing out the interior.  the wrangler remains miles away from luxurious, but improvements for 2003 make the interior more comfortable. Softer trim pieces inside offer improved head protection. New corner pods located just behind the b-pillar on both sides of the wrangler house interior lamps, providing theater lighting. Optional roof speakers are available.  a new center stack with new radios improve functionality. A new, more easily removable fold-and-tumble rear seat is equipped with the latch (lower anchors and upper tethers for children) system for mounting child safety seats directly to the structure of the seat. Also, the seatbacks are higher, which improve safety for taller people.  research firm j. Here, in the heart of the colorado plateau, are thousands of miles of backcountry tracks, most left over from mining days. We motored across the mixed topography of deserts and canyons with the 13,000-foot la sal mountains in the backdrop. Note: this trail rating system is different from other 4wd trail ratings in the u. S., which range from 1-10, with the rubicon trail rated a 10. We put the rubicon to the test on trails such as hell's revenge, cliff hanger, metal masher, and top of the world, which travel through forest, desert, steep ravines and rims, rivers, mountains, and moab's famous slick rock.  the wrangler rubicon performed flawlessly in the rough and rugged. 2008 gmc sierra 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Upgraded for 2008. introductionthe gmc sierra was redesigned from the ground up last year, using proven powertrains, so the 2008 model year brings minor refinements, a few additions, and a special all-terrain model.  the sierra is built on a stiff platform for a smooth ride and sharp handling. The gmc sierra shares platforms with the chevy silverado but its exterior styling is quite different. Sierra interiors offer a choice of two dashboard styles.  the 2008 gmc sierra is offered in a denali version, which makes for a comfortable, luxurious, pickup with the emphasis on performance rather than payload and towing capacity. It can be equipped with a standard bed (6-foot, 6-inch) or a long bed (8-foot), two bucket seats or a three-person bench seat, v6 or v8.  the extended cab has two rows of seats with rear-hinged rear access doors that open 170 degrees and have roll-down windows. The extended cab can be equipped with either a short bed (5-foot, 8-inch), standard or long bed. The crew cab can be equipped with seating for five or six and comes with the short bed.  standard equipment on the work truck 17,070) includes vinyl seating surfaces, air conditioning, am/fm/xm radio, one-year of onstar, daytime running lights, tire pressure monitoring system, smooth ride suspension, 17-inch wheels, chrome bumpers.  the sle 24,690) adds a cd player, cruise control, cloth seats, a rear-window defogger, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and outside temperatures, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lamps, handling/trailering suspension, carpeting and power door locks/windows/mirrors. To this, sle2 28,465) adds premium cloth seats, dual-zone air conditioning, a floor console, six-way power driver and front passenger seats, audio controls on the steering wheel, and machined aluminum wheels.  the slt 30,860) adds leather seat trim, a unique instrument panel, six-disc cd changer with bose sound system, heated windshield washers, front bucket seats with 12-way power adjustment and heat, and polished aluminum wheels; crew cab models also get a rear-seat audio system.  the denali 38,095) includes a top-flight interior with leather, heated and powered front seats, unique woodgrain console, side curtain airbags, dual-zone climate control, park assist and so on. Denali options include a heated steering wheel, sunroof, and rear-seat entertainment. Denali comes only as a crew cab with a 403-hp 6. 2-liter v8 engine, six-speed automatic transmission and rear or all-wheel drive.  the all terrain model, available as a late-2008 model, features the z71 off-road package, heavy-duty trailer package, 18-inch wheels, rancho shocks, and myriad cosmetic enhancements. When ordered with slt trim, exclusive two-tone leather is used. All terrain is available as an extended cab standard box or crew cab, 2wd or 4wd with 5. 3-liter or 6-liter engine.  options for the seirra include head curtain airbags, a locking rear differential, stabilitrak, towing and trailering equipment, and a power sunroof.  safety features include dual front airbags and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Optional head curtain airbags automatically inflate when sensors sense a severe impact to provide extra protection in the event of a rollover or secondary collision. Also available: driver and front-seat passenger side-impact air bags; anti-lock brakes, stabilitrak electronic stability control with rollover mitigation technology, autotrac active transfer case, ultrasonic rear park assist, onstar emergency notification. walkaroundthe front-end design of the 2008 gmc sierra emphasizes the truck's wide stance. The gmc emblem is set amid dark horizontal bars in the middle of an upright and chrome-surrounded grille. The headlamps are a pair of stacked, jeweled lenses. The front bumper features round fog lamps and a wide air intake and wraps around the sides of the truck to the front lower edge of the front wheel wells.  the denali gets its own chromed grilles, both the upper section and the air vent below the front bumper, and the bumpers are painted to match.  the hood has a pair of long, narrow v-shaped power bulges and leads back to a steeply raked windshield. The windshield is tilted back for improved aerodynamics and enhanced highway fuel economy.  the side view features slightly bulging and elongated fender flares that sweep down behind the headlamps. The sides of the cargo bed are higher than on previous models, and the exterior of the tailgate is sculpted, enhancing the rear view of the truck. Stacked tail lamps are on either side of the tailgate.  two new reds are available on a truck that looks taller and stronger than its predecessor, yet also has improved aerodynamics. Except for denali, epa ratings run 13-15 city, 17-20 highway, and on e85 those numbers drop substantially.  an optional cargo management system is available for the bed with side rails and various cargo-carrying and cargo-controlling boxes and dividers and tie-downs.  the gmc sierra and chevy silverado are built on the gmt900 platform that debuted in 2007 and shares many underpinnings with the yukon suv. The pickups get a unique rear suspension and frame section that is 245 percent stiffer. The sierra and silverado share mechanical components, with the exception of the unique features found on the sierra denali.  compared with the previous-generation, the current frame is 234 percent stiffer in torsional rigidity, 62 percent more resistant to bending and 136 percent stiffer laterally. This yields a smoother ride and better handling. It also allowed the engineers to reduce the gap between the truck bed and passenger compartment as well as the gaps between fenders and bumpers, all of which enhances aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.  the front suspension uses a coil-over-shock setup and the rack-and-pinion steering gear is mounted to the engine cross member frame. The truck also has a new rear axle design with shocks absorbers mounted outboard and more upright for better dynamic control. interiorthe gmc sierra slt boasts interior features popularized by the yukon sport utility, providing a much more upscale environment for the driver and passengers. Gmc hasn't forgotten about owners who use their trucks for work, however. So other sierra models use a pure pickup interior with more function, like dual glove boxes, and less luxury.  the 'pure pickup,' as it's called, has a unique dashboard that is more driver-oriented and has larger switchgear and door handles that are designed to be easily manipulated by those wearing work gloves. The pure pickup interior includes a 40/20/40 split front bench seat with the center section folding down to provide a large storage compartment and wide armrest.  the suv-style luxury-oriented interior puts audio and ventilation system controls more easily within reach of the front-seat passenger and has two front bucket seats with a fixed center console with assorted storage compartments.  either dashboard sports full analog instrumentation, and many have more info available through digital display. Operating controls are gm simple, especially on the pure pickup, while the top-line models central dash has many small white-on-black buttons that may require a short learning curve. Some drivers report peculiar ergonomic details as the steering wheel is slightly offset from the seat centerline.  rear seating is provided for three people in the extended and crew cab versions, with 34. 3 inches of rear legroom in the extended cab and 38. 7 in the crew cab, space is similar to ford's f-150 and nissan's titan, and smaller than dodge's quad and mega cabs and tundra's double and crewmax cabs. The crew cab rear seat is split 60/40 and can folded up individually for a flat load floor; this arrangement is optional on extended cabs.  access to the rear seating area of the extended cab is eased by rear-hinged doors that open to nearly flush with the bed sides. Sitting in the back seat of the extended cab is made more pleasant thanks to the fact that the windows in the rear access doors power fully down. driving impressionwe've driven multiple versions of the new gmc sierra and found all of them to be comfortable.  the 5. 3-liter v8 provided plenty of power for the extended cab sle models we drove and the 6. 0-liter v8 was more than enough for the slt crew cab we checked out. All engines need to be revved up (by truck standards) for best grunt. Generally the sierra models match competitors for smoothness, though by benefit of their five-speed automatics the ram 4. 7 typically runs with gm's 5. 3, the ram 5. 7 and titan 5. 6 compete with the gm 6. 0, while tundra's 5. 7 and six-speed auto performance can be matched only by the denali's 6. 2 and six-speed auto.  of the suspensions, the z83 is claimed the smoothest ride while the z85 is slightly stiffer and for those who often tow.

2007 gmc sierra classic 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The sierra 1500 classic is the older 2006 model full-size truck carried over into 2007 and renamed 'classic' to distinguish it from the fully redesigned sierra. The 1500 classic is a half-ton full-size truck. As a regular cab model it can seat up to three passengers. Extended cab models can carry up to six passengers. Engine choices for the 1500 classic include: 195 hp 4. 3-liter v-6, a 285 hp 4. 8-liter v-8 and a 295 hp 5. 3-liter v-8. The 5. 3-liter v-8 can be equipped to run e85 fuel and an aluminum variant of the 5. 3-liter v-8 can make 310 hp. The denali luxury trim comes with a more powerful 345 hp 6. 0-liter v-8. The gmc sierra 1500 classic is a carryover from 2006.

2006 jeep liberty review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Day in and day out, liberty works like a car or wagon. Fold the rear seats and it can move two people and some serious cargo.  turn off the pavement, and liberty can negotiate most trails with confidence. True, the liberty gives up some refinement and road agility to do this. It does not ride or handle as well as some of the other small suvs. But the liberty is among the best of the small sport-utilities for drivers who want serious off-road capability on the weekend yet need practicality and affordability during the week.  the mid-range renegade looks the part, with its flatter hood, taller grille, off-road foglamps and taillamp guards. Renegade also features functional rock rails and skid plates. All-terrain tires are optional, as are gps navigation and an overhead light bar.  but the economy-priced sport and luxury-grade limited models are plenty capable as well, and offer something the renegade does not: the only diesel engine available in a compact or mid-size suv. For 2006, all liberty models come with jeep's electronic stability program (esp), anti-lock brakes (abs), electronic roll mitigation, and all-speed traction control. lineupthe 2006 jeep liberty is available in three trim levels: sport 20,970), renegade 22,860), and limited edition 24,410). A six-speed manual transmission is standard in sport and renegade. Full-time selec-trac is optional 395) on all three trim levels, and retains a low range for serious off-roading.  sport 2wd and sport 4wd 22,480) are entry-level models, although they do come with air conditioning, tilt steering, power windows, power mirrors remote keyless entry, engine immobilizer, six-speaker am/fm/cd stereo, gray fender flares, p225/75 tires on 16-inch steel wheels and, as we mentioned earlier, abs, electronic stability control (esp), and traction control.  renegade 2wd and 4wd 24,370) add unique trexx cloth upholstery, speed control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, deep-tinted sunscreen glass, vanity mirrors, and 16-inch aluminum wheels finished in mineral gray metallic. Fender flares are body-color. Limited deletes renegade's rock rails but adds lots of exterior brightwork.  leather for limited is available as part of a big customer preferred option package 1,575) that includes the programmable overhead console, power seat adjusters, deep-tint glass, power heated outside mirrors, a security group, and an am/fm/6cd stereo, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and infinity speakers.  options for all liberty models include a trailer tow group 365), trac-loc locking rear differential 285), power sunroof 700), sirius satellite radio 195), and a tire-pressure monitor. Gps navigation 1,500) and uconnect with bluetooth 275) are available on renegade and limited 1,500). Standard on all models is an electronic stability program (esp), which enhances driver control and helps maintain directional stability under all conditions. The front airbags, which come standard, are multi-stage and will deploy with less force during low-speed collisions or if t. walkaroundwith its seven-slat grille and round headlights, there's no question the liberty looks like a jeep.  the liberty's body is tall, providing the driver with a commanding view of the terrain ahead. In its exterior dimensions, the liberty fits between the jeep wrangler and grand cherokee. With an overall length of 174. 4 inches, the jeep liberty is slightly longer than the ford escape. It's longer than the wrangler, but significantly shorter and lighter than the grand cherokee.  the renegade model features a flatter hood that complements the traditional round jeep headlimps for a distinctive appearance reminiscent of the hardy old jeep cj3b of 1953-64. Freestanding fog lamps with black bezels, side sills to protect the body from road blast, tow hooks and a bright silver metallic applique across the body-color front fascia add to renegade's rugged appearance. Bolted fender flares, which are gray on sport and body-color on limited, are molded in contrasting accent colors for renegade, and feature chrome-plated attachment details to make sure they are noticed. Tubular roof rails are finished in brushed silver metallic. A black off-road light bar is optional on renegade only.  a neat feature on all models: yanking hard on the outside handle of the rear cargo door causes the glass hatch to swing up as the door itself is swinging out, which saves time and effort. Pulling on the handle with less force opens the glass only. Also, the door is hinged on the left and swings open from the right, better for curbside pickups at the airport. Its roomy interior accommodates five passengers and a generous amount of cargo, with 29 cubic feet of usable space behind the second row of seats. Sitting in the liberty gives the driver a sense of spaciousness with 40. 7 inches of headroom, more than other suvs in this class. Door panels are scalloped out for elbow rests, and a grab handle is provided on the passenger's side of the dash.  the seats were noticeably improved for 2005 through the use of dual-density foam, but the side bolsters are still soft, a signal that the liberty is set up more to absorb vibration than to be slung around corners. The standard cloth upholstery feels like it will hold up well. The renegade front seats are tailored with unique cloth center panels and vinyl bolsters. The front seats in the limited are more comfortable. A grab handle is provided, but it's located on the a-pillar above the steering wheel, not the perfect position to help shorter people swing inside.  the liberty's rear seats are comfortable, capable of holding three people. Two adults should be happy here. Caesar the 160-pound mastiff was happy to ride there. Two full-size garbage cans fit side-by-side back there, too, a feat we haven't seen duplicated in many suvs. Grocery-bag hooks and cargo tie-downs are provided to keep things from rolling around. An optional cargo organizer opens into a shelf with compartment dividers to keep packages in place, and can be folded flat when not in use.  fold. 2002 acura cl review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Comfortable and easy. introductionthe acura cl is designed for drivers who want the comfort and quality of a luxury car but the handling, power, and sporty image of a coupe. The cl achieves all of this with a cabin that's comfortable, convenient and luxurious, a smooth, quiet ride, agile handling, and plenty of power. Though it won't draw stares from kids on skateboards, it is attractive and sporty.  the cl type-s adds power to this picture and backs it up with a sports suspension and anti-skid control. lineupthe 2002 cl is available in two versions, both of which are very well equipped. The standard cl makes 225 horsepower, which is a lot of power for this class. The type s, thanks a number of subtle engine tweaks, makes an even more impressive 260 horsepower.  new equipment for the 2002 model year includes 'diffuser' side mirrors, thicker moonroof glass to reduce wind noise and three new exterior colors. walkarounda coupe is supposed to look sexy, or at least a bit racy compared to the typical sedan. The coupe is lower, with a longer hood and shorter rear deck than the sedan.  measured by finish quality, the 3. 2 cl is a gem. There's a fiberglass liner under the hood, asphalt sheeting in strategic areas around the cabin and electrically controlled hydraulic engine mounts that vary dampening rates at different engine speeds. Even the new glass in the moonroof contributes to a quieter interior. Acura's engineers claim the 3. 2 cl is quieter than the volvo c70, mercedes-benz clk.  type-s gets larger 17-inch aluminum wheels with michelin all-season tires. Its springs and shock absorbers are stiffer than the standard cl's. Acura's vehicle stability assist system, exclusive to the type s, automatically applies the brake at one corner to tighten the trajectory of either the front or rear end in skid-inducing driving conditions.  both cls feature a five-speed automatic transmission with a sequential shift slot that allows a driver to manually click through the gears. A manual transmission will be available on 2003 models.  every cl comes with features that aren't always expected below the $40,000 barrier. Both front seats feature seat-position memory; the mirrors are linked to this system as well. All cls have heated front seats, a sunroof, xenon headlamps and a six-disc, no-magazine in-dash cd changer. interiorby design, coupes put an emphasis on front passengers. The cl's front seats are comfortable and supportive in all circumstances, with fore-aft, height and recline power adjustment for the driver, fore-aft and recline for the passenger. There's enough side-bolster to keep people of small physical stature firmly ensconced during a spirited drive, and enough space to accommodate those of larger stature.  the cl's instrument panel is identical to the tl sedan's. It is clean in appearance and efficient in design, with high-grade switches that work with a soft, satisfying click. The no-magazine cd changer is handy: simply load up to six discs, one at a time, into the slot.  standard safety features include dual-stage front airbags that deploy at different rates depending on the severity of a crash, and a position-detection system for the passenger side airbag, borrowed from acura's big rl sedan. Six sensors determine the stature and position of whoever is sitting in the passenger seat; so the airbag won't fire if a child happens to be leaning against the door.  while the focus in the cl falls toward the front of the cabin, there's a surprising amount of space in back. All interior dimensions are larger than those in acura's 2000 3. 0 cl (and among the largest in the class), for an overall increase of 4. 6 cubic feet in cabin space. The two-place back seat leaves enough room for medium-sized adults, and it's easy to climb into. The electric sliding mechanism on the front passenger seat works more quickly than any we've encountered, yet the seat stops sliding back with any hint of obstruction for improved safety.  the cl's trunk is impressively roomy, too; with 13. 9 cubic feet of space it's one of the largest among similarly sized coupes (the c70 has 13. 1 cubic feet, the clk 11. 0). The ride is firm, and well-suited to a driving enthusiast's tastes. Driven aggressively, the type-s bears up well, and its tail tucks in nicely when the driver lifts from the throttle.  there's plenty of acceleration-producing grunt in the engine, although it is biased toward higher rpm. The sequential shifter works well, even if it's more conservatively programmed than some from other manufacturers. It won't allow the driver to repeatedly bump the rev limiter in low gears without shifting up on its own.  the standard vtec v6 revs freely with dual-overhead cams and multi-valves. It is rated at 225 horsepower. The type-s delivers 260 horsepower. It gets its extra power from a higher volume intake system, less restrictive exhaust pipes, higher compression (10. 5:1 vs. 9. 8:1) and a higher redline (6900 rpm vs. 6300 rpm). summarythe acura cl is built like a fine watch and is very pleasant to drive. Similarly equipped, the cl costs several thousand dollars less than the least expensive car among the competitors named above. model lineupcl 28,030) (ya4242fn) ; type-s 30,380) (ya4262fn). assembled inmarysville, ohio. options as testedacura navigation system 2000). model testedcl type-s 30,380) (ya4262fn). 2004 toyota sienna review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The new class leader?. introductionthe toyota sienna is all new for 2004. Bigger and better than last year's model, it's the first in a parade of redesigned minivans and may be the new class leader. It's considerably larger than last year's model, and about $1,000 cheaper. Its v6 engine has been bored out for more power and now produces 230 horsepower, while a new five-speed automatic improves response and fuel economy. All come with the new v6 engine and the new five-speed automatic transmission. All are equipped with anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, which help the driver stop quickly and maintain control. The all-wheel-drive xle has a base msrp of $36,930.  numerous option packages are available for all grades.  safety features: a new latch system (lower anchor with tether for children) is used in all second-row seating positions to accommodate new-design child seats. Front side and side curtain srs airbags covering all three seat rows are standard on the xle limited, optional on all other grades. Before designing the new sienna, chief engineer yuji yokoya drove the previous sienna all over north america, through mexico, canada, and the u. S., through every state, every province, some 53,000 miles. A short, slight japanese man, yokoya-san was often accompanied by program manager john jula, a tall, burly american. An odd couple, they couldn't have been more different in stature, appearance, and temperament. But they shared a seriousness of purpose, a devotion to designing the best minivan ever created, and a strong sense of humor. Working with designers and engineers from around the world, they ferreted every weakness and shortcoming of the old (1998-2003) sienna and addressed it with this new sienna.  the biggest shortcoming of the old sienna was its lack of interior roominess. Yokoya saw families buried under luggage. He also determined it needed to be quieter so families could more easily converse on long drives. He wanted better seats. And he wanted to improve stability at high speeds, especially in cross winds and on crowned roads.  the all-new 2004 toyota sienna is substantially larger, wider, taller than the previous-generation model. Its wheelbase is 5 inches longer and the track is 4 inches wider than last year's model. Stretching 200 inches over a 119-inch wheelbase, the new sienna is the same size as the biggest minivans on the market: the honda odyssey, dodge grand caravan, chrysler town & country, ford windstar, and the long-wheelbase versions of the chevrolet venture and pontiac montana.  everything on the sienna is big and bold: big headlamps and big taillamps light up the night and give the sienna presence in the dark. Black pillars, instead of body-colored pillars, make the new sienna look even larger than its considerable dimensions. A big windshield, big wipers, and wiper-mounted washer nozzles designed for snow belt improve driver visibility.  the sienna presents a sleek appearance by minivan standards, enhanced by its steeply raked windshield and the black pillars. The slot for the sliding doors is cleverly hidden, offering a cleaner look. There's lots of room for passengers and cargo. Fold the second- and third-row seats flat and the sienna can carry 4x8 sheets of plywood.  getting in and out of the sienna is easy. The power sliding doors are smooth and quiet and move more quickly than in the past, helpful for impatient passengers. Manual sliding doors and manual rear hatch on the le and ce models have a quality feel as well.  the rear side windows lower partly, though not below the center of gravity of a toddler, and feature anti-pinch protection designed to reduce chance of injuries to small hands and fingers. A nice feature is the availability of sunshades for the second- and third-row seats, which filters strong sunlight better than privacy glass.  up front the driver sits before a smooth, organic dash. Toyota says it splurged on the seats, which are designed to offer comfort for a variety of body shapes over long periods of time. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes. The ce comes with a nice cloth interior, though the door inserts are plain. Le features nicer cloth, nicer door inserts, and other trim. Two glove boxes are provided and a big center console holds 12 cds. Armrest compartments can each hold six cds and there's a spot for a small cell phone just to the right of the shifter. The dry cleaning hooks look big enough to accomodate a load of dry cleaning. In back are hooks for holding grocery bags. There's comparably good legroom and it feels roomy and airy with good room next to the passenger's head. That's impressive given that the sienna is fitted with side-curtain type airbags; they do not intrude into rear headroom as much as other designs. When not needed, the second-row seats tumble forward, presenting a friendly seat bottom to cargo or pets. The second-row seats are easy to remove and reinstall, though the captain's chairs weigh 49 pounds each.  seven. 2002 pontiac montana review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. An attractive alternative to all those suvs. introductionfamilies are buying sport-utility vehicles in droves, but not everyone needs or even wants an suv. For many, a minivan still is the best option. The pontiac montana answers this call.  pontiac has enhanced its minivan for 2002 by offering all-wheel drive for improved traction in wintry conditions and a new-generation dvd entertainment system for improved relations with backseat occupants. The regular wheelbase models ride on a platform with 112 inches between the front and rear wheels. Extended wheelbase models have 121 inches between the axles, and therefore are roomier on the inside as well as being more than 13 inches longer overall. The extended versions also have larger fuel tanks (25 gallons vs. 20).  two seating variations are available for the regular-length wheelbase models. The six-passenger model 24,425) is equipped with modular bucket seats for the second and third rows. The seven-passenger model 25,405) comes with second-row captains chairs and a split bench seat for the third row. Standard equipment includes antilock brakes (abs), air conditioning, power windows (including the third-row quarter vent windows), power door locks, remote keyless entry, cruise control, tilt steering column, an overhead console, auxiliary power outlets, onstar communications system, fog lights, a roof-mounted luggage rack, and 15-inch steel wheels with wheel covers.  extended wheelbase models come with a choice of front-wheel drive 26,895) or versatrak all-wheel drive 30,430). The higher level adds rear air-conditioning outlets and controls, power sliding doors on both sides, a power driver's seat, alloy wheels, and a new dvd entertainment system. The higher level retails for $30,480 with two-wheel drive and $34,035 with all-wheel drive. Thunder sport is available only on extended wheelbase models. walkaroundpontiac's montana is quite handsome by minivan standards. This is one pontiac on which the brand's lower body cladding enhances the appearance and gives this minivan a more suv-like look.  thunder sport adds wild-looking bulges to the hood that look ridiculous. interiorall montanas have height-adjustable driver's seats, which really aids comfort on long trips. The fore-and-aft range of the driver's seat is one of the longest we've sampled, and will probably provide enough room for six-and-a-half-footers. There are large side bolsters on the backs of the seats, but the seating surface is relatively flat. Doing this reveals a flat and wide rear cargo floor.  the dashboard is neatly arranged, and the gauges are easy to read. However, when the speedometer needle reaches 75 mph, it blocks the right turn-signal indicator. It features a large seven-inch screen that folds down from the roof panel. It features a wireless remote, auxiliary jacks for video game systems and camcorders, and wireless headphones. Called montanavision, the system comes standard on the versions of the long-wheelbase minivans. What we like best about this system is its integration; aftermarket systems we've tried tend to be more difficult to use and not as durable. driving impressionwhile not an all-out suv, the montana can be the perfect family truckster. Crosswinds won't make it wander on the way to wally world. Veer off onto poorly maintained secondary roads and the suspension doesn't get upset. Versatrak is new for the montana for 2002. While operating as a front-wheel-drive system in normal conditions, it automatically directs power between the front and rear wheels to provide grip in adverse weather conditions or whenever one of the tires begins to spin. The system is compact as well as efficient.  the montana corners quickly for a minivan, especially versions that have the sport performance and handling package 395) that includes alloy wheels, all-weather tires, automatic level control, sport suspension and traction control.  the front-wheel-drive montana has a twist-beam rear axle that contributes much-needed rear roll stiffness in a front-heavy vehicle. Body roll is less noticeable than in many other minivans, even those from within the gm stable. The noise from the powerplant is limited to an isolated and distant hissing. At 80 mph, which we found to be the average cruising speed on most western highways marked at a 75 mph limit, the engine is revving at just 2400 rpm. The montana doesn't sound like it's straining to keep up, and passing slower cars can be done without too much prior planning.  the v6 engine has good throttle response in traffic, and it's efficient; we managed 25 mpg on a fast trip across michigan. The epa estimates highway fuel economy at 26 mpg.  traction control is optional for front-wheel-drive models. It's a good idea for easier control in winter driving. With a torque-pumping v6 and front-wheel drive, torque steer is sometimes noticeable as a slight tug on the steering wheel under hard acceleration.  the brake pedal is typically spongy, as it is on most gm platforms that were designed in the early 1990s. Newer designs, such as the latest bonneville and gm's newest big pickups and suvs, lack this mushy feeling, so the montana will likely get a better-feeling brake pedal in the future.

2010 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The benchmark for compacts. introductionthe honda civic continues to hold its position at the top of the compact class, thanks to innovative styling, refinement, reliability, and a broad model line that ranges from the eco-friendly civic hybrid to the racy civic si.  inside, all civic models are pleasant, attractive and inviting. Available technology features include bluetooth handsfreelink on navigation-equipped models, and a usb audio interface on civic ex, ex-l, hybrid, and si. We've found the civic to be comfortable in which to ride, nice to drive, and with ample windows that provide outstanding outward visibility.  the civic comes standard with side-impact airbags and other safety features that are optional on some competitive models. The hybrid model features dramatically reduced emissions, and it delivers an epa-rated 40/45 mpg city/highway.  the civic gx sedan uses natural gas for fuel. Natural gas is available to residents of california and new york and is used by fleets elsewhere.  for 2010 the honda civic line is essentially unchanged from 2009 when the styling was freshened. The civic was last redesigned for the 2006 model year. lineupthe honda civic comes in coupe and sedan versions. A five-speed automatic 800) is optional.  the civic dx coupe 15,455) and sedan 15,655) are the base models. Standard equipment includes power windows, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, height-adjustable driver's seat and fold-down rear seatback. The coupe gets a rear decklid spoiler. Brakes are disc in front, drum in rear. The p195/65r15 tires are on steel wheels with full wheelcovers. The civic lx-s sedan 18,205) upgrades to alloy wheels, exclusive sport-trimmed black cloth seats with synthetic suede bolsters and silver stitching, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rear deck spoiler, and a chrome exhaust tip.  the civic ex coupe and sedan 19,455) add a power moonroof; variable-speed intermittent windshield wipers; a second 12-volt power outlet; a 60/40 split folding rear seatback; and outside temperature indicator. The steering wheel reverts to plastic, but adds audio controls; while the keyless remote adds a trunk release button. The sedan's stereo adds two speakers (for a total of six); while the coupe gets a 350-watt, seven-speaker system; both get a usb interface. The ex coupe is available with manual transmission, xm satellite radio, and voice-recognition navigation 21,455).  the civic ex-l coupe and sedan 21,005) add leather seats with seat heaters, leather-trimmed steering wheel and armrest, heated mirrors, and vehicle stability assist and brake assist. They come only with a six-speed manual transmission. Other go-fast goodies include a limited-slip differential, sport suspension, vehicle stability assist with traction control, and p215/45vr17 tires on 17-inch alloy wheels. Fog lights come standard. Inside are synthetic suede sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an aluminum shift knob. Both coupe and sedan get the 350-watt, seven-speaker stereo. Packages include high-performance tires for the coupe 22,255) and sedan 22,455); xm and navigation 24,055 and $24,255); or all of the above 24,255 and $24,455).  the civic hybrid sedan 23,800) features a continuously variable automatic transmission (cvt), automatic climate control, a roof-mounted radio antenna, a rear decklid spoiler, and hybrid-pertinent digital data displays. Vehicle stability assist comes standard. The hybrid is available with the navigation system and xm satellite radio 25,800) and with a leather interior 25,000) including heated front seats and side mirrors, or with the leather package, navigation, and xm 27,000).  the civic gx 25,340) is essentially an lx sedan with a 1. 8-liter engine powered by natural gas. It comes only with a five-speed automatic transmission. walkaroundthe honda civic sedans and coupes don't share any body panels. Details and markings distinguish each trim level. The honda civic sedan has a grille with a tall, trapezoidal center opening with secondary scoop-like openings on either side. A grid-like insert in the center opening contrasts with a kind of cyclone-fence theme in the side scoops. Slender headlamp assemblies angle upwards as they curve around the fenders. Around back, a bright chrome bar connects the taillights just above the indentation for the license plate.  the coupe grille has the honda logo centered in an oval-themed black mesh, with a lower trapezoidal opening, and scoops at either side that are drawn out wide and horizontal and divided midway by a horizontal strut.  save for a lower body character line, the sides of the civic are more slab than sensuous. Understated fender blisters break up the otherwise featureless expanse. Honda calls it a monoform design, and a central expression of this is the windshield, the leading edge of which reaches into the hood all the way to the middle of the front wheel wells, pushing the cab-forward design concept to a new extreme. On the coupe, the windshield is raked at a radical 21. 9 degrees; the sedan's at a barely more upright 23. 9 degrees.  the coupe's spoilered, rounded rear profile suggests sleek swiftness. The sedan's somewhat abbreviated trunk lid and high, chunky tail add perceived mass to a tightly proportioned, smallish sedan.  on the si sedan, the grille bar is black instead of chrome. On both the coupe and sedan an si badge tucks into the grille's lower left side, and oval fog lights are set into the bumper's outboard openings. An i-vtec label appears just forward of the rear wheel well; on the si sedan it's placed low on the rear door. A rear spoiler wraps over the outboard edges of the sedan's trunk lid; on the coupe, the spoiler is free-standing. Both sedan and coupe roll on their own unique alloy wheels. The hybrid is understated, with just a small hybrid badge under the right rear taillight. The dx edges more toward spartan inside, while the ex heads toward lush. Fit and finish meet honda standards. Plastic trim elements look high-grade, although the multi-piece dash invites concern about high-mileage squeaks and buzzes.  seats are comfortable, not plush. Seat bottoms provide better than average thigh support. The manual height adjustment on the driver's seat pivots on front hinges, forcing drivers to choose between seat height and legroom. The si models get sport front seats with synthetic suede upholstery and more aggressive bolsters both bottom and side for improved support.  the view out the front, with the expansive windshield, low cowl and sloping hood, is unparalleled in the class. A commensurately low beltline would enhance side vision, but otherwise there's little about which to complain. Tiny front quarter windows on the sedan, necessary to allow the front door windows to roll all the way down, push the side rear-view mirrors a bit too far rearward for quick and easy glances at neighboring lanes.  controls are for the most part where they should be, but not necessarily as they should be. There's little symmetry in organization or shape of features and interfaces. It's not an unpleasant look, but one that requires some acclimation. Despite the seeming logic of the two-tier instrument display, we still haven't adjusted to the resulting weird pod draped over the top of the dash.  the dash itself seems endlessly deep; draped across its top, in front of the driver, is a hooded opening with a digital speedometer between lcd coolant temperature and fuel level gauges. Down below, in the more common place for instruments, a large, round, analog tachometer dominates the view through the top half of the steering wheel, with warning lights to either side. Outboard of this display are large, irregular vent registers. Instrument lighting is blue on most models but red on the si models.  sedans share the coupe's three-spoke steering wheel (with spokes at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions), which matches the spacey interior theme just as well. The civic navigation.

2000 toyota rav4 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. A cute, practical and durable pacesetter. introductiontoyota's rav4 wasn't the first mini sport-utility vehicle, but its success helped start a trend. When it was launched in the u. In 1996, industry analysts weren't sure how to categorize this quirky cross between a truck and a compact. But as more customers became aware of the rav4's relatively low cost, fuel-efficiency, manageable size and sporty image, other manufacturers were quick to follow suit.  new and upgraded competitors in the small suv class include the honda cr-v, the kia sportage, the new suzuki grand vitara and the subaru forester. In the same price range but considerably larger and more rugged is the nissan xterra.  the rav4 is no longer new and there are few changes for 2000, but it's still a head-turner. Toyota's reputation for quality and reliability has continued to make the rav4 popular despite the increased competition in the segment it helped create. lineupfor 2000, the two-door version has been dropped. The 2wd model retails for $16,668, while the 4wd model starts at $18,078. Extra value package #1 1,547) adds air conditioning, am/fm/cassette, cruise control, power windows, mirrors and door locks, cloth head rests. Package #3 3,029) includes the above plus leather seating surfaces. With the destination charge 480), the price as tested came to $23,027. walkaroundthe rav4 remains a visual departure from a crowded highway of look-alike suvs. The sheetmetal forming its wide body dips downward at the side windows, giving it a muscular, ready-for-action look that is strengthened by an aggressively styled grille and front fascia, a sloping hood with large air intakes, and kicked-up rear quarter panels sculpted around big 16-inch tires on boldly style wheels. Less hip but equally appreciated features are the full carpeting, dual outside mirrors, intermittent front and rear wipers and a rear window defogger. Front door pockets provide storage, while dual cupholders are integrated into the lower instrument panel. The instrument cluster incorporates a digital odometer, dual trip meter, and upgraded radio features. All-around visibility is excellent, thanks to the sloping hood, tall driving position, and generously sized windows. Visibility out the front is excellent.  a low step-in height makes it easy to get in and out. Rear seat leg space isn't that bad given the vehicle's overall small size, but we did find it cramped getting to those rear seats through the small secondary doors. With the split-folding rear seat folded flush, the rav4 can handle 57. 9 cubic feet of goods, less than of some of its competitors. Rav4 is based on the front-wheel-drive toyota camry sedan, and its unitbody chassis gives it comfortable, car-like handling, unlike the truck-based sport-utilities with their heavier and less-rigid body-on-frame construction. This emphasis on highway manners reflects the way most people use this type of vehicle.  still, the rav4 is not simply a sport-utility wannabe. For one thing, it carries a higher ride height (7. 5 inches) than a sedan, making light off-road driving feasible. We were impressed with the all-wheel-drive traction, finding it useful in snow and slush. Even though the rav4 lacks a low-range set of gears, the locking differential gives the rav4 a traction advantage over the all-wheel-drive honda cr-v and subaru forester.  on automatic transmission models, the center differential automatically locks up when excessive slip is sensed between the front and rear axles. On manual transmission models, the driver uses a switch to manually lock or unlock the center differential. This reduces wheelspin off road, but it also improves driver control on wet roads.  the rav4 is nimble and fun to drive, thanks to a well-designed independent suspension and power rack-and-pinion steering. The engine feels peppy and can cruise at 80. The rav4 accelerates to highway speeds with reasonable enthusiasm, but it runs out of power in the higher rpm range. For this reason, we prefer the standard 5-speed manual transmission. The automatic transmission lacks response and flexibility; getting through the mountains is a struggle and it has a tough time accomplishing this when in cruise control mode. Brakes are discs on the front and drums in back; abs is available as a $590 option, which is money well spent. Given toyota's reputation for quality, we'd expect it to offer good resale value as well.  at first glance, the $16,668 base price looks low, but air conditioning and other 21st century necessities quickly drive that price over $18,500 with destination charges.  The Santa Fe is a so-called crossover SUV, meaning it's built like a car, using unibody construction instead of the body-on-frame construction of a traditional truck. The Hyundai Santa Fe is all-new for 2007 and early indications are that it could be a true alternative to the Toyota Highlander. 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Review This car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale Power Locks✔ Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ AM/FM✔ Climate Control✔ Navigation System✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Air Conditioning✔ Alloy Wheels
